Mom brought me home exactly two years ago. It’s been quite the adventurous 730 days and I can’t wait to see what this year has in store for us 😁.

No matter how sleep deprived, sweaty or dirty I am, you can pretty much guarantee that if I’m in the backcountry, I’m happy.
Just a few years ago I was terrified to camp in bear country. I likened it to choosing to hike around and camp in Jurassic park. My fears all came true one night when I awoke to a grizzly growling just a few feet from where I lay in my tent. Luckily nothing came of it and after stomping around the tent next door to us snorting, she and her cubs moved up onto the hillside to graze; Leaving us free to cautiously crawl out of the tent and check our surroundings. This experience and a bad choice in movie one night (backcountry - don’t watch it! 🙈) made me question my new found hobby.
However instead of shying away from time spent in the backcountry, the following summer I camped more than I ever had before, and this year has been no different. There is just something about being able to carry all you need around on your back and escape the noise of day to day life that is so gratifying to me #WhyIHike
Who else loves getting into the backcountry?
Massive thank you to @eddiebauer for supporting my summer adventures! #LiveYourAdventure #EBContributor *This is also a great reminder to educate yourself on bear safety before recreating in bear country. Always carry bear spray and know how to use it, hang or store all food and attractants (this includes toiletries) in bear safe containers or bins, make noise when hiking and avoid hiking alone..

Probably my favorite waterfall in the PNW. So full of colors and vegetation, and undoubtedly so easily accessible. I loved hiking down to it and exploring the area. I honestly could’ve spent hours in this spot. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

One of the reasons I moved to Canada was to renew my passion for hiking and exploring. I had started to become a bit complacent in Montana, a little less motivated and a lot more content with a lazy day at home than I’d like to be, I knew I needed a change. I needed something new and exciting, I needed a new adventure, something to get me outside of my comfort zone. Major life changes like moving cross-country or even to a new country seem to do that for me. Once my spark starts to die, and my motivation levels dwindle, I go out and find something new I think may reignite it. Well to cut a long story short I think I’ve found it here in Canada, for the time being at least. And I cannot wait to explore more of what this beautiful country has to offer, and what better way to do it than on my own two feet #WhyIHike
What motivates you to get out and explore?

These hot days are long and fun but the heat has me thinking about winter more and more. Always loving the changing of seasons, especially in this part of the world. // @eddiebauer #WhyIHike #EBContributor.

One of my favorite rewards after a leg burning hike to the top of a lookout, is to take the deepest breath I possibly can, exhale and slowly feel my body unwind and my mind set it self at ease. I’ve always been a sucker for morning hikes especially, the air is always crisp, and the birds are always chirping about....it feel as if you have the entirety of the world all to your self!...These are a few of many reasons #WhyIHike !! #liveyouradventure #EBContributor @eddiebauer.

‘As your dog becomes more self-actualized, she may hold up a mirror for you, and the face you see can be humbling’. - Ted Kerasote.

A priority for Metsä and I is spending time outdoors. I believe that this time in nature is truly hers + that she processes it in her own way. When she looks at us and we look at her, I feel all the things.

Wherever you see Mount Fuji from, the scale of it will completely take your breath away. My favourite perspective is from the Miho peninsula, where a 650 year old pine tree and a Japanese legend draws in visitors to this unique part of the country.
