Fighters, where are you from? Comment below, we want to know! ❤️🤟 ...
👉 It can be hard to ~not~ point out every single-use or wasteful-use of plastic you see. 😅 But try your best, because no one has ever been nagged into changing their behavior for good.
🤓 You also can't inform people into changing. 📚 We believe that if we educate and provide more information, that people will pay attention and act based on the information we give them. 📱 That's not to say that information isn't a helpful tool in this fight against plastic pollution, but in this crazy, information-overloaded world, you can't overwhelm someone into paying attention. ⏱ People these days want to make accurate, efficient decisions in the most rewarding way possible. 💪 That's why it's important to keep the message short and simple, but that's also why it's important to focus on what someone can do now.
🤔 If you're struggling to persuade someone to adopt more sustainable behaviors, here are some tips (other than starting small), based on the aptly titled book, "The Small Big: Small Changes That Spark Big Influence"
1️⃣ Just ask. ❓ Simply asking if they'd be willing to change is an obvious approach but seldom done. 😲 It's amazing what can happen when we candidly discuss the barriers we face and vocally commit to making a change.
2️⃣ Don't leave room for procrastination. 😒 We all know where procrastination leads... nowhere. 🙌 Make a commitment and make it now.
3️⃣ A sense of owing your future self can motivate self-change. ⌛️ And we're not talking about your future 90-year-old self, if they care about their future self 5 years from now... they should care about changing today.
4️⃣ Focus on similarities, remain approachable. 🙅♀️ You're not living an unobtainable, elitist lifestyle. 🤗 You're making changes that anyone can and should make today. 🤝 We are all in this together, ain't nobody got time for an "Us vs Them" mentality.

#DRC 🇨🇩: In collaboration with long-term local partner Eben Ezer Ministry International, Street Child are working with communities in two different locations in South Kivu, one of the most conflict-affected eastern provinces in the DRC.
The first is in the High Plateau, a remote mountainous region which suffered some of the worst violence during the civil war. Due to its remote geographic location and ongoing inter-ethnic violence and insecurity, the High Plateau remains difficult to access and as a result very few NGOs work there.
Street Child are working to revitalise the education system across South Kivu and to improve the communities’ ability to support their children’s education. We are achieving this through a multi-level approach that includes school construction, teacher training, school quality management, engaging parents, removing economic barriers to education and tackling social and cultural barriers that prevent disadvantaged girls from receiving education.
Over the coming days we will be sharing stories of some of our beneficiaries in the DRC and how we are supporting them thanks to your generous donations.
Thank you to everyone who came to our One Nation Under Stress screening @ZuCotGallery last month!
It was great to see familiar faces, meet so many new friends and discuss how stress is affecting the health of our nation. ...
Breathing in the ocean air and watching the sun set in #PuertoRico is a moment in paradise. Being on the beach is meaningful to us- we connect with the vastness of our planet and the sense of possibilities within our lives when we gaze at the horizon and the endless ocean. It's a moment to breathe and connect with yourself, beyond the daily worries and concerns. We're also reminded of the urgent need to protect our oceans and our planet, and that the future of our beautiful spaces in nature is tenuous. When was the last time you spent time with sand between your toes enjoying a brilliant sunset like this? 🌎🇵🇷 ...
