Whoa! This was deep! Jesus calls us by our potential and the greatness He sees in us. He believes in us BEFORE we believe in ourselves. Jesus sees greater in you even if you doubting your ability, purpose, or passion. He sees beyond our "right now" so He boldly speaks to our potential. Wow! #potential #jesuscalling ...

The story of the healed woman who had been bleeding for 12 years in Mark 5 is one of my favorites. This woman...at the end of her rope and her long depleted bank account...at the end of hope for a cure...banished from society and touch...labeled unclean, unworthy. She doesn’t give up. She hears Jesus is in town and she goes. She doesn’t dare approach Him in word or request, but she gets close enough to touch the hem of His garment. What does she have to lose? What she lacks in resources, she makes up for in faith. And that desperate swipe with her frail hand on His dusty garment healed her. Instantly. Jesus feels the power flow from Him. He knows. He doesn’t keep walking. He makes sure she won’t be leaving in the same shameful way she came. He brings her face to face with her healer. He acknowledges her great faith.

And as amazing as that story is, what I love most is that it is told sandwiched between another healing story. This one in the form of a request from a father. A father with power, and social esteem, and financial means...but helpless and desperate nonetheless. His 12 year old daughter is dying. What his vast resources can’t do, he is sure Jesus can. Declared dead by others, Jesus takes his daughter by the hand and says to her, “Talitha cumi...Little girl, I say to you, arise.” Jesus heals the girl.

Rich or poor, socially connected or social outcast, confidently approaching in full view or indiscreetly approaching in shame and fear...Jesus sees and Jesus heals! 🧡.

OLDIE but I was impressed that someone needed to hear this. Soooo I'm sending. Happy Sabbath!! @dearfuturehim with @get_repost

You know, I just thought about this, Adam being lonely was not a surprise to God. God is all-knowing (omniscient) and He gave Adam the task of observing all the animals and their mates basically seeing how partnership works. I think God knew that Adam would yearn for something he witnessed daily..... companionship. But Adam didn't know what was missing (because woman had never been created)....he just knew he didn't have what he saw and this made him lonely. He craved it. He missed someone he had never met.

OLDIE but I was impressed that someone needed to hear this. Soooo I'm sending. Happy Sabbath!! @dearfuturehim with @get_repost ・・・ You know, I just thought about this, Adam being lonely was not a surprise to God. I think God knew that Adam would yearn for something he witnessed daily..... companionship. But Adam didn't know what was missing (because woman had never been created)....he just knew he didn't have what he saw and this made him lonely. He craved it. He missed someone he had never met. And this is why writing "Dear Future Him" post mean so much to me because I, too, long for someone I've never met. It's like a lightbulb clicked....I'm missing someone because in my loneliness (or just my singleness) it spotlights the desire I have for companionship. I'm usually around other couples in love. I've witnessed my parents in love ALL of my life. I've seen love, done God's way, and it's beautiful. Something I desire one day. And I'm not talking about friendship or my relationship with my family. I'm talking about a spouse. So, I've said this to say to my single people out there: there is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting companionship. There is nothing wrong with craving it or desiring a spouse. Why? God made you that way. God himself desires relationship with His children and because He is our father it's only natural to desire relationship. Companionship takes it a step further where your purpose it to be fruitful and multiply. The thing that is wrong (or what makes this difficult) is if you are not in your purpose and you're focusing on the act of marriage and companionship MORE than what you're supposed to be doing, purpose wise. Adam had given names to the animals and was overseeing the garden. He was in his purpose. That was his job and also where he saw the NEED to fill the void. This is where he REALIZED he was lonely.... while he was WORKING IN his purpose. Don't miss that....Get busy in your purpose! #purposemate #adamandeve ...

Sunday Sermon notes @desiringgod & @johnstephenpiper
•
We were traveling for my son’s soccer tournament, so this week’s sermon was a podcast with the family on our way home...John Piper’s “Make your life count: the greatest missions letter ever written” on Romans.
•
So many takeaways, but the close got me...
•
“We didn’t urge you to come to this conference to make your life easier. But to make your life count.
.
Don’t waste it on superficial things. Grow deep....Give yourself unreservedly to what really matters. Take hold of life, which is life indeed. Turn off the television. Shut down your video games. Why should mere man choreograph your life?
.
Go deep with God. Be much alone with him and with the most radical Christians you can find. Memorize Romans 8, and make it the charter of your life. Preach this to yourself every day....”
•
SO...WHO WANTS TO MEMORIZE ROMANS 8 WITH ME DURING LENT?
•
Let’s do this! Let’s saturate our mind with Scripture at the level it takes to memorize it...carefully examining each and every word! I’m so excited! Please join me. And because Enneagram 3 😋, I’ve posted lots of resources on the blog...one-pager to print out copies to keep everywhere, memory plan (with space to read and write out Romans 8 in manageable chucks), study guide links, and more in the works! Link in profile!
