President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump took the stage in Miami on Tuesday to address the political and humanitarian crisis in Venezuela.
Melania Trump opened the event by saying that Americans are standing with the people of Venezuela.
“Many of you in the room know what it feels like to be blessed with freedom after living under the oppression of socialism and communism.”
The President has ramped up public pressure on the regime of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and urged Venezuelan military officials to back self-declared interim president Juan Guaido and allow humanitarian aid to flow into Venezuela.
“The days of socialism and communism are numbered, not only in Venezuela, but in Nicaragua and in Cuba as well,” President Trump said.
