After TWO YEARS of meaning to go, I shot a video at @bunnacafe! In fact, I went twice! First to review their brunch, then to review this ol bad boy called “The Feast”. Bunna Cafe is a fully vegan Ethiopian spot on flushing ave in Brooklyn and as far as I know if, they don’t use any faux meats or anything. Just super great grains and veggies! If you want to see the full review, link is in my bio! Have any of you guys been? What did you think? 🤗

BBQ Tofu Wonton Noodles by @woon.heng 😋 A wonderful combination of spices and flavours!

Recipe (serves 2)⁣
✔️BBQ tofu:⁣
~ 2 cubes of fried tofu⁣
~ 2.5 tablespoons soy sauce, 1/2 tablespoon hoisin sauce, 1/2 tablespoon garlic chili sauce, 2 teaspoons maple syrup, dash of 5-spice powder (optional), white pepper⁣
🍃In a heated low heat pan with all sauces, immerse tofu. Using a spoon, scoop sauce to 'marinate' the tofu, or flip few times so tofu is covered in sauce until all sauce is absorbed. For a sweeter version, you may add more maple syrup. Set tofu aside⁣
⁣
✔️Wonton noodles (for 2 servings):⁣
~ 1 pack of @sunnoodles , cooked based on package instructions⁣
~ Blanched Yu Choy⁣
~ Sauce: 2 teaspoons dark soy sauce, 1 teaspoon soy sauce and stir fry sauce, drizzle of sesame oil, fried shallots, white pepper⁣
🍃Mix sauce in a plate, and as soon as noodles is cook, toss them with sauce until well combined. ⁣
⁣
✔️Wonton recipe - see few posts back. How to store wontons if you make a big batch? Placed wrapped wonton on a non stick pan, making sure they are not touching, and freeze. Then, remove wonton and now you can store them together in a bag. If you store freshly wrapped wonton without the first step, they will stick together - no fun.😆
⁣
Serve noodles warm with BBQ tofu, blanched veggies, boiled wontons and pickled jalapeños.

Roasted Red Pepper and Garlic Pasta by @hello.kalin. A creamy and delicious bowl perfect for your next meal! 😋 Recipe below:
ROASTED RED PEPPER & GARLIC SAUCE:
.
Ingredients: 1 red bell pepper • 1/2 cup cashews ground into fine powder • 1/2 cup vegan cream cheese (in a pinch you can substitute cashew cream [1.5cups raw cashews soaked overnight then blended with 3/4 cup water], or unsweetened plant milk for a thinner sauce) • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil • 3-4 garlic cloves • 1 tbsp tomato paste (optional) • Salt & pepper to taste.
.
Method: (1) Roast the garlic. The fastest way is to place the cloves on a piece of aluminum foil with a dash of oil, then close the foil to create a pouch and roast at 350°F for 30 minutes. (2) Roast the red pepper. You can do this directly on the oven rack at 450°F for 30 minutes, or if you have a gas stove, roast the pepper over the flame until all sides are blackened. Allow the pepper to cool, then remove most of the charred bits, stem, core and seeds. (3) Add the red pepper, garlic, cream cheese, cashew powder, oil, tomato paste (if using), salt and pepper to a blender and blend until very smooth. (4) Heat the sauce in the microwave or stove top before using.🌱

Grilled cheese anyone?
Cheese and dairy products were probably the hardest thing for me to give up when we went vegan. I seriously had a cheese addiction since childhood, which I later learned was a true thing!
Cheese and dairy products contain a protein called casein. When we consume it, casomorphin, a morphine-like compound is created in our stomach. High concentration of casein in cheese is what’s causing our addiction!
When calves drink their mothers’ milk, the casomorphin’s purpose is to make them keep coming back for more milk in order for them to get nourished and grow. It has a natural purpose for baby cows, while for humans it has no purpose other than creating an unnecessary addiction that makes us fat and sick. We weaned off our mother’s breastmilk when we were babies, so why are we still drinking breastmilk from another mother?
Is it because we think humans are on top of the food chain and are therefore entitled to sabotage and exploit everything at any time in any quantity we please?
It’s time to recognize the repercussions of our actions, the toll they have on our health, the harm we do to our planet and the suffering and injustice we cause to animals. It’s time for an intervention and serious reconsideration of our behavior and mentality as a human species.

With that said, we can still have ‘cheese’, but made from plants, like this cheddar style cheese from @daiyafoods which melts beautifully and satisfies any cheesy craving without the harm!
And trust me, once you get past the casomorphin withdrawal, you won’t miss cows breastmilk any more than you miss human breastmilk.
