Who remembers this shoot?! It was the shoot that taught me how to bring out personalities in photos. Your photos are not about me and my portfolio - they are about YOU, your style, and your personality. I’m just here to help bring out the best of that. 😊🧡.

HELLO WORLD 🌎
This is Clem! One of my 5 baby chickens. I’ve been a little MIA lately celebrating Easter and building a coop for my little ladies.
Why on Earth would I raise chickens?
I am always wary when it comes to free range/cage free eggs, meat, etc. It gets super confusing when you are trying to figure out what’s best for your health, the treatment of the chickens and the environment. By raising my own chickens (for eggs) I will know that the chickens are treated super well and what they are eating. Their nutrients are our nutrients!
These little ladies are also great pets! It’s been a super fun challenge to learn more about birds and how they function. I have also learned LOADS about building. I’m super fortunate to have access to incredible tools thanks to my dad, but I have had to learn a lot about building and using these tools. My dad was a pro and probably could have built the Taj Mahal of chicken coops in one day. Building this coop has made me miss him in 1000 different ways, but I know he would be really proud of me for doing this.
Comment 🐣 if you would raise chickens!

I learned something amazing today. I heard a professional development speaker talk today about the importance of honesty and openness in conversations about potentially controversial topics. Yes we should be talking about race, religion, political affiliation, gender identity. Yes we should be having those awkward conversations. BUT one of the most powerful things you can say at the beginning of one of those conversations is “I really want to talk about ___ with you, but I don’t really know the right words to use and I don’t want to say the wrong thing. Help me if I say the wrong thing.” It’s also ok to stop during a discussion and say “you know, I don’t know as much about this as I would like to. Let me do some research and get back to you on this.”⁣

Dang. ⁣
⁣
How powerful is that? It’s POWERFUL to admit we don’t know everything. It’s powerful to be vulnerable in discussions about uncomfortable topics. It’s powerful to be honest. ⁣
⁣
We live in a time when crazy things are happening in the world, but people are TALKING about them. That’s a truly great thing. We have more opportunity NOW than any time in history to learn from other people. ⁣
⁣
My takeaway was this - be honest, be vulnerable, and be willing to ENGAGE instead of say “let’s just agree to disagree,” because that is a cop out. Respect that people have other points of view and that comes from their own experiences. We have so much to learn from each other, so let’s embrace that. ⁣
